Alara is an AI thinking partner. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we store it, who processes it, and the controls you have over your data. Alara is in invite-only beta — we keep our footprint small on purpose.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, an optional display name, and (for Google sign-in) your Google account identifier.
- Conversations: the messages you send to Alara and the responses Alara returns, grouped into conversations you create.
- Memories: notes you explicitly save so Alara can recall them across conversations.
- Settings: preferences like default tone, length, and theme. These are stored locally in your browser.
- Operational logs: minimal request metadata (timestamps, anomaly flags) used to keep the service safe and available. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we store it
Your data is stored in our managed Postgres database (hosted on Supabase). Every table that holds your content is protected by row-level security so other users cannot read it. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest by the underlying infrastructure provider. Authentication tokens are stored in your browser and are scoped to your account.
How we process messages
To generate replies, the messages in your active conversation are sent to Anthropic's Claude model through the Alara backend. Claude processes the request to generate a response and returns it to Alara. Anthropic does not use Alara API traffic to train their models. Beyond generating the reply, your messages are not shared with any other third party.
Your controls
- Export: from Settings you can export any conversation as Markdown, JSON, or PDF.
- Delete a conversation: deleting a conversation permanently removes it and all of its messages.
- Delete your account: Settings includes an account-deletion option that permanently removes your profile, conversations, messages, memories, and shared links.
- Revoke share links: any read-only share link you created can be revoked at any time.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.
- We don't train models on your conversations.
